License rules

Summary

Software Safetica Endpoint Security is made by three independent modules sold individually. The subscription license to use the services is re-issued on annual basis; it can be valid for one, two or three years. The price of the license includes updates and technical support.

The exact price of the Safetica Endpoint Security license depends on the number of the stations on which can use it simultaneously. An individual license should be purchased for each client operating system running Safetica Endpoint Security (per asset licensing). For revalidation one should purchase a new license for one, two or three years. An expansion license allows its holder to connect additional client stations within the validity period of the standard license.

Licensing conditions depend only on the number of clients connected, not on the Safetica Endpoint Security server components. In order to use Safetica Endpoint Security on a terminal server an individual license for each user should be purchased.

Product division

The Safetica security software consists of three modules. Maximum benefit is achieved by the use of all three modules at the same time.

Safetica Endpoint Security consists of three separately purchasable modules:

  • Safetica Endpoint Auditor for tracing staff’s working activities.
  • Safetica Endpoint Supervisor for blocking undesirable staff’s activities.
  • Safetica Endpoint DLP for data loss protection and prevention of important corporate information leakage.

If the following text includes the “Safetica Endpoint Security” term, it is meant as using all three modules at once.

Use of the license

The license defines on how many computers (or operating systems) Safetica can be used. Customers can define which of his computers can use the Safetica modules.

Example: The customer owns the Safetica Endpoint Security license for five endpoints. He can either select five computers from his own network which will be able to use the software or divide the use of the Safetica software to five computers which will use the Safetica Endpoint Auditor, other five computers with the Safetica Endpoint Supervisor module and still other five computers with the Safetica Endpoint DLP module.

The exception is the use of Safetica Endpoint Security on terminal server where licenses for each user connected to the terminal server must be purchased.

Number of installed and running server components is not limited by the license.

Question: What if more people work with a single ordinary computer?
Answer: One license is paid per a computer.

Question: What if 50 employees work with a single terminal server?
Answer: Licenses for each employee must be purchased.

Question: How should I proceed if one employee uses more computers?
Answer: A license must be purchased for each computer.

License validity length

Safetica uses the subscription license model. Customers pay for the possibility to use the software for a certain period of time. After the license expires, the software cannot be used unless extended.

The standard license is always valid for 1, 2 or 3 years since the selected activation date.

ExampleThe standard one-year license with the activation date of 30th March is valid until 30th March in the following year, included.

Extension of licenses

If the customer possesses some valid licenses, the following special cases can occurr:

  • The customer wants to extend the license volume (for more computers).
  • The customer wants to purchase licenses for other modules.

System of license extension prevents different expiration of individual licenses.

For extension of the license validity there is the extending license. These licenses are only for customers who currently have valid licenses.

  • The length of extending license is 1 – 11 months but always a multiple of a whole month.
  • The license validity is always aligned with the day consistent with the date of activation of valid licenses of the customer.
  • Other than here stated use of the extending license underlies agreement with the software producer.

Example: A customer with a valid license with the activation date of the 1st March purchases an extending license for 9 months on the 15th May. The extending license becomes valid since the 1st June and is valid until the day corresponding with the activation date of the original license, i. e. 1st March of the following year. The original license as well as the new extending licenses expire at the same time.

Returning a License

If a customer wants to cancel the validity of an already issued license, a Safetica Partner has to immediately report this to the Vendor. Any returned licenses are then put onto the list of prohibited licenses and their use is blocked with the next update. Returned licenses will then be compensated by the Safetica Partner via the Safetica Partner System.
